Cherokee Health Systems Welcomes New Pediatrician to the Team

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Cherokee Health Systems (CHS) is pleased to announce that Pediatrician Dr. Garrett Bell-Gresham has officially joined the CHS staff, his role advances the organization’s mission of providing high-quality, integrated, comprehensive, equitable and person-centered healthcare to people in East Tennessee. Dr. Gresham brings over five years of medical experience to the team and is extremely passionate about providing care to children from birth through childhood. He is currently accepting pediatric patients at CHS’ Center City and Lonsdale Health Centers. The Lonsdale Health Center is located within the Emerald Youth Foundation’s Haslam-Sansom Ministry Complex.

“Dr. Gresham is a notable addition to our team. I think our patients are going to love being cared for by him. His expertise is valued, and we know he will serve our community very well,” said CHS’ Dr. Gail Reilly, medical director.

Dr. Gresham, a New York City native, obtained an undergraduate degree at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, then attended medical school at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Cincinnati, OH. He completed his residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Before working at CHS, Dr. Gresham provided health care services to children at TriHealth Pediatrics in Cincinnati, OH, for over five years. Becoming a pediatrician was a dream Dr. Gresham had since he was young, and he is excited to continue living his dream while growing his medical career in East Tennessee.

“I’m excited to serve this community and provide quality care to those who have limited access to it. I appreciate and admire all Cherokee does to provide care to everyone, regardless of their health insurance status,” said Dr. Gresham.

Online data shows that nearly 32% of the Lonsdale population lives below the poverty level, while nearly 20% of the population in Knoxville is below the poverty level. Dr. Gresham’s experience will help CHS address various social determinants of health by improving overall access to care in the community.
